The Anaheim Ducks appear to be interested in Maple Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle, but if the price tag is winger Bobby Ryan, they won't be in the mix for long, reports the Orange County Register.
Ducks GM Bob Murray is weighing his options should veteran rearguard Scott Niedermayer retire or sign elsewhere next month.
Kaberle is believed to be one of the players Murray is interested in, however numerous Toronto-based reports suggests Leafs GM Brian Burke wants to obtain Ryan, whom the Ducks are not willing to trade.
Murray told the Register the rumors involving a Ryan trade are "ridiculous."
Meanwhile, Ryan is set to become a restricted free agent July 1 and the Ducks and his agent continue to negotiate a new contract. |
